| The term battleship is a shortening for Ship of the battle-line, and thus another name for a Ship of the Line. In this game it is however used to distinguish the mightiest of their class, ships of 90 or more guns. Ships of this size are not standardized, so each battleship that is built may be different, ranging from 90 to 110 guns and 14000 to 15500 hull. Each player can only build one battleship. |
| Brig (Minimal captain rank: Commander) | | Hull | 2500 | | Guns | 14 | | Crew | 16 | | Speed | 750 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Excellent | | Transport | no | | Cost | 40000 | | Build Time | 3 |
| Brigs were small, 2 mast ships that were mainly usefull for their speed. They were strong sailers close to the wind and often used for transporting post/orders between the land and the fleet, or to repeat signals from the flagship on a position outside the battle line so that all ships could see them. |
| Clipper (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 1100 | | Guns | 8 | | Crew | 10 | | Speed | 1275 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 20000 | | Build Time | 2 |
| The Baltimore Clipper was the predecessor of the famous tea clippers employed half a century later as a merchant vessel. It was basically an improved schooner built with a narrow hull and more sail surface for greater speeds. |
| Corvette (Minimal captain rank: Commander) | | Hull | 3500 | | Guns | 20 | | Crew | 22 | | Speed | 630 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Average | | Transport | no | | Cost | 200000 | | Build Time | 8 |
| Corvettes or Sloop of Wars were ships of around 20 guns, the smallest men of war with 3 masts. They were mostly used to disrupt enemy traderoutes. |
| Cutter (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 750 | | Guns | 4 | | Crew | 8 | | Speed | 900 | | Wind dependency | 65% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 4000 | | Build Time | 1 |
| Cutters were small one-masted vessels used for smuggling and as coastguard against them. |
| Fortress (Minimal captain rank: ) | | Hull | 14000 | | Guns | 100 | | Crew | 120 | | Speed | 0 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Average | | Transport | no | | Cost | 400000 | | Build Time | 8 |
| Fortresses defend your cities. If your city loses its defenses, the ships in the harbour can be attacked, and if there are no ships, the players or garrison in that town are vulnerable to bombardments from the sea. |
| Frigate (Minimal captain rank: Jr Post Captain) | | Hull | 6000 | | Guns | 32 | | Crew | 35 | | Speed | 540 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Good | | Transport | no | | Cost | 500000 | | Build Time | 16 |
| Frigates were smaller ships, still rated as warship, but too small to fight in a battle line. They were built for speed and agility and used as cruisers outside the main battle area. They could be used for small missions that did not require ships of the line. |
| Galley (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 900 | | Guns | 8 | | Crew | 16 | | Speed | 750 | | Wind dependency | 10% | | Weatherliness | Indifferent | | Transport | no | | Cost | 20000 | | Build Time | 1 |
| Fragile ships, propelled by rowers, making the ship virtually independent of the wind. |
| Merchant (Minimal captain rank: Midshipman) | | Hull | 2300 | | Guns | 6 | | Crew | 5 | | Speed | 450 | | Wind dependency | 90% | | Weatherliness | Good | | Transport | no | | Cost | 30000 | | Build Time | 1 |
| Merchant vessels can be used to gain extra profit. When a merchant vessel is created it is given a random destination city. When the ship reaches the destination it is removed from the game and the owner is given money. Part of the money earned by merchants is taken as tax and distributed on a daily basis among the army players in the country. |
| Proa (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 1000 | | Guns | 2 | | Crew | 10 | | Speed | 795 | | Wind dependency | 50% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 4000 | | Build Time | 1 |

| Schooner (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 1200 | | Guns | 6 | | Crew | 10 | | Speed | 900 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 10000 | | Build Time | 1 |
| Schooners were small but fast vessels. Mostly used by privateers, since they were cheap, fast and strong enough to capture almost all regular merchantmen. |
| Ship of the Line (Minimal captain rank: Post Captain) | | Hull | 10000 | | Guns | 64 | | Crew | 70 | | Speed | 480 | | Wind dependency | 120% | | Weatherliness | Poor | | Transport | no | | Cost | 2500000 | | Build Time | 36 |
| Ships of the line were the top class ships of the age of sail. They varied from 50 guns to sometimes 120. They got their name from the common fleet strategy to attack in closed battle lines. This made it hard for the enemy to get between two ships and use both its broadsides. Because in this strategy each ship of the line would have to fight 1 on 1 with its counterpart in the enemy fleet there was a minimum standard for such ships and only the best ships were used as Ships of the Line. |
| Sloop of War (Minimal captain rank: Commander) | | Hull | 2500 | | Guns | 18 | | Crew | 24 | | Speed | 675 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 140000 | | Build Time | 5 |
| The sloop of war was the largest unrated man-of-war, just smaller than the frigate. It was widely used in the navies of this time for a variety of purposes. |
| Transport (Minimal captain rank: Sea Lieutenant) | | Hull | 1500 | | Guns | 10 | | Crew | 4 | | Speed | 465 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Good | | Transport | yes | | Cost | 15000 | | Build Time | 3 |
| Transports were usually old ships that were not fit to carry large guns any more. They were stripped from their arms and arranged for the use of transporting materials or troops to and from the colonies. |

| War Galleons were the powerfull brothers of the Spanish Galleons. Because they were not build for speed they could generally carry very heavy guns. When transported by War Galleon you should be safe from most enemy cruisers. |
| War Junk (Minimal captain rank: Commander) | | Hull | 2600 | | Guns | 16 | | Crew | 20 | | Speed | 1050 | | Wind dependency | 100% | | Weatherliness | Superb | | Transport | no | | Cost | 120000 | | Build Time | 6 |
| Junks were highly advanced ships by Chinese design. They were well ahead of european ships in their rigging, having reinforced their sails with bamboo, taking a lot of the pressure of the masts. They were able to sail well both close to the wind and sailing large. |
