Conquer the world for King and Country in this massively multiplayer online real time strategy game (MMORTS).This is an online real-time strategy game (rts) where you are an officer in the army or the navy of one of 25 different countries during the Colonial Era. It is a time of change. Through the dawn of time great empires and kingdoms have risen and fallen. Revolutions throughout the world have shaken most nations and though most nations remain monarchies in one form or the other, those of normal birth are now given the chance to take up arms for their nations. Not just as soldiers or sailors, as cannon fodder, but they are given the ability to become officers on land and on sea. Where the revolutions in arms development and cultural changes had brought forth a weakness and emptiness in the armies and navies of all nations, brave new officers come forward. Officers from all classes of society, to fight for their nation on the stormy oceans and seas, to fight on hills and mountains, along the coasts and in the desert. These officers have come forward to claim their destiny.
As a new officer you get the choice, will you join the armies that march on land or the navies that rule the seas? Whatever you choose a path filled with fighting awaits you. You'll get money from your king or queen to finance the recruiting of your first troops, the building of your first ship. The seas and lands are dangerous, even with no enemies invading, and through accepting a lot of missions you will gain gold and prestige, allowing you to climb ranks and afford more and better troops and ships.
But a time will come, often too quickly, that enemies of your nation strike and you are called to defend your nation. Join bigger armies, led by the highest officers and fight alongside dozens to hundreds of other officers in mighty land battles, join strike forces to capture lands and cities. Or join the mighty navies, to block enemy ports, raid coastal towns and secure the naval trade of your own nation. With your army or your naval forces you directly influence the outcome of battles and the fate of your nation.

| Backup | A serious bug occurred after an update that was supposed to fix a minor bug. This however had such big impact that it was necessary to restore a backup of the game database. The game therefore has been restored to the backup of last night (around 1 am). Our sincere apologies for this event, but we feel that under the circumstances this was the most fair solution for everyone. Players with a vip-account have their status prolonged with one day.

| Age end | This age will end tonight at 20:00. Next age will start tomorrow at 20:00 The age end will from now on change to a system like on "The Last Knights" where the number of remaining countries decide the age end. Nobility ages will be changed to months, so the duration of your nobility account doesn't depend on age lengths any more. There will be no refund of nobility for the early age end because the minimal 3 weeks promised for an age of nobility has already passed. Next age changes: - Variable age end, 4 days after only 3 countries are left or 24 hours when only 2 countries remain.
- Maximum of 7 ships defending in a city battle. This should change the fact that even the strongest defended cities can easily be defeated by a strong fleet.
- Less countries. I'll try out starting the age with only 12 countries. All the cities on the world map are divided between these countries. This means countries start with 40-70 cities and 60-70 players. The countries will be China,England,France,Holland,Japan,Kingdom of Congo,Ottoman Empire,Portugal,Russia,Spain,Sweden and United States.
- You are allowed to have only 1 official ally. Unofficial allies can't and won't be checked by admins but we count on fair play from the players and of course it won't be tolerated to end fighting with more than 2 countries remaining. Only wars with your official ally can be set to friendly and people can't be CMed for hostile actions against a country you have a real war with.

- Some unit stats changed

- Soldiers can build 4 ships, Knights and Dukes 5
- Knights and Dukes can save up healing turns from their carpenters/medics/sailmakers. They get one HT every tick (just like normal) but can save them up to 4 if they don't use them that tick.
- Knights get 10% more crew, Dukes 20%.
- You can add your ships to other peoples fleet, even if there is no player on your ship to do this for you.
- Fixed promotion levels to Jr Post Captain and Commander (dynamic seemed to be only annoying and had no visible positive effects)
- More admirals
- The way cities are defended from a naval attack changed a little:
+Forts always defend the harbour.
+If the forts alone are 3 times as strong as the attacker, no ships are called up to defend
+If the best 5 ships/forts would still only be half as strong as the attacker, no ships are called up to defend either and only the forts fight.
- FP changed a little: You get fp for defeating a city if there are ships defending. You then get 1+nr of participating officers fp points. You still get 1 fp for every officer participating in a won pvp.
- SBP for city attacks: For every ship you sink you get half the number of guns in SBP for your country (not for your own pvp ranking). For capturing you get 1 time the number of guns. Both are half the amount you/your country gets for a pvp at sea.
- SBP for bombardments: For every 10 injured soldiers belonging to a player, your country get's one SBP. Bombing garrison doesn't give SBP.
- You can't pvp ships stronger than 2 times your own strength (was 3 times)
- Hired post-captain takes, just like a playing post-captain, no longer a crew spot.
- Cities don't go neutral any more, even if they are cut off and don't have a harbour.
- A list of top 10 navy players on fp and top 10 army players on number of SFs is added to the stats page.
- Bug fixes:
+fleet pvp points should work now, you should get points for every ship sunk/captured, whether you win, lose or tie.
+Fleet leaders who lose their admiral rank should become Commodore now
+Crew should desert again when you have no more gold to pay them.
+When a transport sinks, the army officers go to a real random city and don't get an error message any more.
+Solved a possible balancing issue at the start of the game
+cap on the number of pirates fixed, this didn't work, so the number could grow unlimited. Now there can be max 1000 on the map, as it was meant to be.

- Ship of the lines made weaker
- You can attack weaker targets till 70% of your strength rather than 50%
- City attacks where the defence will be less than 70% of the strength of the attackers go directly to bombarding, so schooners won't defend against liners, and liners won't have to work through the schooners before they can bombard.
- Neutral ships don't fight in city battles (only ships that are in a real war with the attacker)
- Army unit stats changed
- Crew manament tool added on the My Ship page that can add or remove crew by typing a number, and remove all crew from a ship in 1 click.
- Selection added on the crew page to make manual crew management easier (still usefull if you are picky about which exact gunners should be on your ship)
- Hardcap on the promotion xp for commander and jr post captain (resp. 1000 and 2000 xp)
- FP (fleetpoints) added to decide who becomes admiral. You get FP in pvps and city attacks (one FP for each player participating in the attack). This is to stimulate cooperation and give the admiral ranks to the people playing for the country rather than those training by themselves.
- Only level 1 playes get admiral ranks

| City attacks after bombardments | There still is a bug when you attack a city with an SF directly after a bombardment. If you attack from the land, this will result in "city under attack" for 15 minutes, if you attack from a ship it will result in your SF getting sent back to a random harbour of your country.
I still haven't managed to find what causes this. It doesnt happen all the time and I have a feeling the chance is less if you wait for 15 mins, or till at least 1 tick has passed, but I'm not sure. I will not restore any bad effects caused by this bug, so if it's not necessary don't bombard the garrison before your SF (bombarding players seems to be ok) |
| Database from last night restored. | Due to a powerproblem with our hosting centre, the database was corrupt and we had to restore the database of last night. All registrations of new players of today are lost, so if you registered today: please take your time to re-register. |
| Reset | | There was a reset a couple of minutes after the start because the balancing of countries didn't work. Sorry for the inconvenience. It is quite possible that you will not get in the country you were before since some countries had far too many players. |
| Age 2 changes | Only a couple of changes for next round:
- No limit on the number of fortresses in a city, but each next fortress in a city is twice as expensive as the previous. This starts with player-built fortresses, so the standard forts do not increase the price. Only standard fortresses respawn.
- Nr of ships you can build is increased. Knights can build 3, and Dukes 4, soldiers can still build 2 ships. The total limit of ships is still 5.
- Every player can build/own one transport ship (transport or war galleon) on top of the normal allowance. Extra transports do count as normal ships. This means that players can still build a transport even if they have already 5 ships.
- Ship stats changed for some of the standard and special ships. Big ships have become more expensive.

| Congratulations | Congratulations to Kingdom of Benin, playing very active all age and escaping 4 or 5 countries in the end. Probably one of the first times this country survived the first week. Also first places for Polytechnic in the army ranking, Wynelee in the navy ranking, Robin in the army pvp ranking, Vinnie in the navy pvp ranking and Duppie in nr of SFs.
Next age will start friday at 12:00, there will only be a couple of changes, which will be announced later today.

| Age 1 end | Age 1 will end on thursday, 21st of september at 12:00. KnC ages will be a little shorter than TLK ages because I feel it will do the game good (less burden on HC for a whole age, more interesting game in the beginning) if the ages are shorter.
Ages will last 3 to 4 weeks, and the end is known at least 3 days in advanced (though I might experiment with announcing the end time already at the start of each ages)
This might mean that the age ends when according to TLK standards it's not really over (as in there are still many real wars). That is on purpose. I think the game should be not so much about survival (and thus having most allies) as it should be about collecting as many battle points as you can in a certain period (lessening the need for many allies so that you have something to do).
People with Duke/Knight account will then pay for 4 ages instead of 3, people who already have a nobility account will get an extra age.
Age 2 will start after a 24 hour break. |
| Congratulations | Thanks to all who participated in the beta age. A lot of bugs have been found and I've got a lot of ideas to improve the gameplay.
Congratulations to highest army rank NW_Sim, highest navy rank Vinnie  , best army pvper Bigpwner, best navy pvper Kajara and most active SFer duppie for their prestations in the beta age.
Some of the changes after the beta:
- Transports are now blocked also by ships they are not at war with, but not by allies
- xp formula altered so that you get really a lot more xp from fighting with larger ships
- People can own only 5 ships through capturing, if you board a ship and you already have 5 ships it's sunk and you receive the selling price for it (rather than half of it when you just sink a ship)
- Captured ships always go to the owner of the capturing ship, not to the captain.
- You receive a message if you or your ship fights in a battle (except when you yourself do the fighting)
- War Junks are no longer transports
- The whole country get's a message when a war is started.
- HC is limited to 4 people, but there's a War Council added that can have unlimited members. WC can't do diplomacy, but can do all the rest that HC can.
- I'm sure to forget some, and didn't mention bug fixes.

Age 0 will start tomorrow at 15:00
After the Pro age ended, there will be a possibility to transfer your Duke account from the pro server to an account on For King and Country. To do this, log in on the pro server (this will be made possible about an hour after the pro server ended) and go to your profile. You can fill in a username there, which must be the username you already registered on KnC and to which you want to transfer your Duke status. You will receive a confirmation email with a link you have to click to actually transfer it. |
| Age 1 start | The first real age of For King and Country will start on September the 1st.
At August 26th, there will be age 0: a beta-age for everyone to join, try out the new features, find the worst bugs, mess up badly and such ;) Registration will open up a day before the start of the beta. All accounts from the previous beta will be deleted, but from then on they will be kept, so age 0 players don't have to re-register).
